Glebe Men in 2017
Welcome to returning members, new members and prospective
members to the Glebe District Hockey Club Men's page. We think
Glebe is Sydney's premier hockey club with a long history of
success and a strong club spirit. Although we pride ourselves on
the support and nurturing of players at club level, many have gone
on to higher state & national honours including representing
Australia at the Olympic Games.
Glebe is one of the oldest hockey clubs in Sydney and will be celebrating its 87th year in 2017. Last year, the club fielded 5 Senior Men's teams. The club caters for players of all abilites, skill level and has always welcomed the addition of new players. The Club has an excellent social scene with many functions held thoughout the year.
Men's senior team training has started and will occur every Tuesday evening at the newly constructed Cintra surface at Saint Lukes Park Concord. Turf training has started and we will train every Tuesday evening from now on 6:30pm - 8:30pm. Fitness Training occurs every Wednesday Night at Jubilee Oval Glebe meeting outside the Glebe Clubhouse at 6:30pm.

Glebe DHC - Playing Fee's 2017
Full Playing Fees
Goal Keeper Fees
Note: Fees must be paid in full by 30th June 2017. As always anyone having trouble paying their fees on time please discuss you situation with any member of the Management Committee or the Club Captains.
The above new fee structure represents a small increase on last year and still includes $20 for the club end of year 200 club fundraiser raffle. This fundraiser will again be conducted over the last 5-6 weeks of the competition with the major prizes drawn on presentation night.
Why are the
fees the way they are?
It costs a lot to play hockey in Sydney, with turf costs, insurance and umpiring fees. The Glebe District Hockey Club have made a conscious effort to keep the fees as low as possible in light of the current economic climate. Glebe Hockey has found that these numbers are the lowest possible figures the club could ask from its players.
Glebe Hockey also have a policy that junior players (U/11, U/13
and U/15) do not pay fees. Junior costs are covered by the senior
members of the club (via fund raisers, 200 club raffle, bar takings
and sponsorship etc). This is a part of Glebe Hockeys commitment to
juniors and junior development.
How does it compare to other clubs?
One of our closest clubs is charging their players close to $850 for the season, so we feel the Glebe prices are very good, especially considering we support the juniors. Glebe is the only club in Sydney that allows its juniors to play for free. Glebe remains one of the cheapest clubs to play for, Men and women in Sydney
Do I have to pay all at once?
No, you do not need to pay all at once. You must however pay a $200 deposit before even setting foot on the field this season. No pay = No play. You can work out a payment plan with the Club Captain at any training or trial games. In saying that, you save money if you pay all at once, so it can be good to get it out of the way! We ask, as per previous years, that you please pay your fees by Electronic/Direct Deposit to the club bank account:
National Australia Bank
Account Name: Glebe District Hockey Club
Please ensure you record your name in the transaction details, so that we know who has paid.
Cheques are to be made out to 'Glebe District Hockey Club'
For those who coached a junior side in 2016, please note you are eligible for a discount on your fees, but please refer this to the attention of the Mens or Womens Club Captain. Do not assume you will receive, please have the courtesy to enquire first about what amount we can subsidise you.

THE GLEBE TEAM SONG
(Written by Colin Rochester)
1, 2, 3 The Glebe Boys are we
4, 5, 6 We'll hit 'em with our sticks
7, 8, 9 We'll do it all the time
10, 11, 12 We'll win the comp as well.
If you believe, what I believe, the copper said to me
If you're one of the Glebe Boys, you better come with me
He grabbed me by the collar, he tried to run me in
I put up my fists, and knocked him stiff,
And that was the end of him, HEY!
And that was the end of him, HEY!
And that was the end of him HEY!!!!!!!!!!!!!
