For a second year, Hockey Australia has run the men's Australian Hockey League at the same time and place as the U13 Boys Australian National Hockey Championships.  This year the events were held over 9 days in Adelaide on adjacent turf pitches.  The same occurred with the women's Australian Hockey League and U13 Girls Championships in Brisbane.  This created good crowds and a real "buzz".  The impressive Champions Trophy was also on display.

In the NSW Waratahs, Glebe's first grade goalie, BJ Brunton, was the State goalie and a true stand out.  While selected, Glebe legends, Matt Wark and Mark Paterson had to pull out of the team due to injury.  The Waratahs lost a couple of tight early games, but ultimately finished a very credible 5th

In the U13 Boys State team, Tim Pritchard was the vice-captain.  The team played and won all 11 games over 9 days to finish as the 2014 Australian National Champions.  Tim slotted in 7 field goals.  In the U13 Blue's team, Rodrigo de Luna and Callam Baird were magnificent.  They also played 11 games and finished a very credible 7th out of the 12 teams competing.  Well done boys.

One of the highlights was a three hour joint training session including all 3 NSW teams.  The U13 Boys learned a lot from the AHL Waratahs.  BT was heavily involved in the training session and the boys tested their skills against him.  It was great for the young men in the Waratahs to give up time for development of junior hockey.
