Welcome to the 2023 Juniors hockey season.

We have a dynamic and fun season ahead and can’t wait to get started.

A lot of information is included here.  A summary with 2023 age-levels is included to indicate which information is relevant to your child. To avoid missing events, please read the further information relevant to your families.

As always, for all events on the field, please ensure your child wears their shin pads and mouthguard.

As you know we are a volunteer Club.  We need your help to make our Club as great as it can be. If you are able to assist with any task this year, no matter how large or small, please reach out to discuss what could be possible.

(1) PRE-SEASON DEVELOPMENT ACADEMY –  U9-U13 and U15-17

First off the ranks starting this Sunday morning is the commencement of our 6 session Pre-Season Development Academy.

Development Academy is an ALL ABILITIES skills development program designed to build the skills of ALL of our JUNIORS in U9-17, no matter their starting point, ahead of the season commencement.

This year we have two separate sessions: one for players in the U9 to U13 age-levels in 2023 and another for players in U15 to U17 age-levels in 2023.

Development Academy offers the opportunity to be coached and inspired by our coaches, some of whom are current or former International or State level players and coaches, offering not only their personal experience and advice, but often individualising their feedback to each player to help them progress their skills and understanding of the game.

The details for Development Academy are:

(4)    NEW UMPIRES 2023

Is your child ready to commence umpiring?  We pay Junior training umpires and badged Junior umpires.  This is a great way to earn money each week as well as improve your child’s understanding of the game, develop decision making and leadership skills and help our Club.

Peter Bestel, our umpiring coordinator, will be running some training.  If your child is interested in getting started with umpiring, please let me know via return email.  When is a child ready – usually a couple of seasons of play is needed and the right level of maturity – but just reach out and we can discuss if you are unsure.

We would love every family to help in some way – no matter how big or small the task.

Examples include arranging our ball-person calendar, undertaking part of our social media, preparing a calendar of events for the year, hanging posters, arranging a cake stall, helping with the canteen and larger jobs such as age-level convenors, team managers, coaching and other regular administrative functions.   There are many more examples and we are open to suggestions.

Please reach out and we can consider what task or role works for your situation/interests.
