Women’s hockey at Glebe has been founded on strong traditions with the first recorded teams playing in 1934. Women’s hockey has been continuously associated with the Glebe District Hockey Club since 1978.
Everyone is welcome at Glebe. We are a mixed bunch, united by the love of our sport and the chance to play competitive, enjoyable hockey with lifelong friends. We have seven teams reflecting a diverse group. We cater to our elite players and those wanting a more social game. We play across the Metro 1-6 grades in the Sydney Women’s Hockey League, as combined Glebe Western Districts teams in Met 1 and 2, and Glebe in Met 3-6. Our seventh grade teams play in the local Sydney East competition.
All games are played on Sundays between March/April to August/September each year. Training takes place on Tuesday nights at Cintra Hockey Complex from 6:30pm to 8:00pm and with Met 1 and 2 training also on Thursday nights at Kingswood, and all other grades welcome at our additional training at the Crescent Turf on Thursdays also. Trials usually take place throughout March.
